Yankees are in great shape, have a winning streak of four matches and in the last ten matches achieved a victory seven times. Their today's opponent is with two straight defeats, and bearing in mind the starting pitchers today, another defeat is in sight.
Freddy Garcia
11-7, 3.09 ERA
Last appearance: 8/29 at BAL with a 6.0 IP, 1 ER
Garcia started three times against the Orioles this year and achieved 2-0. In his last appearance against them, 3-2 victory in Baltimore a week ago, he allowed just one run in 6 innings. He posted a 2.73 ERA in his last four matches at Yankee Stadium. As for day starts, he had eight appearances and achieved 5-1 with a 1.73 ERA.
Brian Matusz
1-7, 9.07 ERA
Last appearance: 8/28 vs NYY with a 5.1 IP, 6 ER
Matusz had a 2.56 ERA in five starts against the Yankees, but in his last appearances against them, in defeat 8-3 a week ago, he allowed even three homers in 5 1/3 innings, with a 10.13 ERA. His shape is terrible, in the last 7 matches, seven were defeats, in 34 innings he allowed 41 runs, including as many as 13 HR.
Yankees players have a great performance against Matusz, while on the other side just Adam Jones has more than one hit of Garcia this season (3 for7). Yankees and Orioles played 14 matches against each other this year and Yankess won 12 times, as many as 9 times with the handicap higher than two runs. I think they have excellent qualities to achieve another convincing victory.
