Firstly, I think the Sens will win tonight. The odds are better than for this pick, but I do not know how many times I made wrong bets on their win or defeat. I would say, enough that I should give up on them. However, tonight I have a good feeling and I hope the Senators will finally make me happy. With goals, since they do that very well. Their goal difference is 106:117, with the highest average of scored and received goals per game. 94 of those 223 goals were scored in the third period. There is no one team with higher average in any period in the season. They scored 48, the most in the league, and allowed 46, the second worst score in the league. Jose Theodore will be in goal of the Panthers, but he has very poor score against the Senators - a 3.17 GAA and .898 save percentage in 27 games.
Florida ended third periods in 20 games with over 1.5 goals, but only one in the previous six. It is good thing for this bet, because it has been too long streak for them and in the next several games we can expect over 1.5 in this period. Craig Anderson has much better statistics against the panthers - a 2.13 GAA and .931 save percentage in 7 games. Good score. But, this season he already played against the Senators and allowed 3 goals on 25 shots, with a 3.01 GAA and .880 save percentage.
Three of their four games against each other in the previous season ended with over 1.5 goals in the third period. We have already have one, and tonight I expect another such effective 3rd period.
