| After quite good performance on a friendly match versus Croatia I believe our guys can steal a point against Poland. I watched that friendly game and sure, Croatia won fair and square, but we had our chances as well. Our guys were optimistic after the game and I believe they are more confident. Milivoje Novakovič (FC Köln) is in great form (3 goals on 3 matches) and Robert Koren (WBA) is back after missing couple of games due to an injury. He is still not 100% but he will definitely play on Saturday. Mišo Brečko (FC Köln) and Marko Šuler (Gent) have some injury problems, but coach Matjaž Kek said it's nothing alarming, they'll just have to wait couple of days to know more. Kek also said he is aware of Poland's quality and the fact that they (along with Czech Republic) are the favorites to win this group, but they'll be ready to make a positive result in this opening game. It won't be easy and I doubt Slovenia will have much support in Wroclaw, due to high ticket price (100€) which was put up by Polish Football Federation. Artur Boruc, Dariusz Dudka and Radoslaw Majewski are out for the first two qualification games (Slovenia and San Marino). These two teams met 3 times so far, with Poland winning 2 games and a tie. But these games are pretty much irrelevant, or at least first 2 matches are. Last game: 18.02.2004 - Poland vs. Slovenia 2:0 |
